PropagatorsPropagation is a very cheap way of producing new plants and can be done with either cuttings or seeds. A packet of tomato seeds will produce many hundreds of tomato plants for the same price as a single tomato plant brought from the garden centre.Small propagators with heated bases and covered tops are ideal for smaller gardens and hobby propagation. For larger scale production, benches tend to be open and warmed by soil mats from beneath and kept moist using mist propagation systems. This method is used for commercial production.
