Watering Systems
Access Garden products supply an entire range of watering systems for the keen gardener, ranging from watering systems for hanging baskets and patio tubs to watering systems to water the borders and beds of a garden. As a division of Access Irrigation Ltd, we can also offer a comprehensive design service for a complete watering system, to include the watering of pots, borders and lawn areas of the garden. The watering system can be operated directly from a tap, if the system is small and in a private house. For larger systems, a pump and storage tank are used.
Garden watering systems have a number of benefits compared to hand watering. Watering will be carried out automatically, early in the morning when evaporation is lowest, so little water is wasted. Hand watering tends to be undertaken during the evening time when evaporation rates are the highest, causing lots of the water to be wasted.
Drip watering systems are much more efficient than hand watering, with the water going directly to the root zone of the plants. If the drip pipe is covered by a mulch, water losses are further reduced. Drip watering systems also spread the water evenly over the entire bed, reducing run off.
Watering systems for lawns will ensure that the grass is kept green and lush, no mater how dry the Summer, although it is important to be environmentally aware in times of water shortage. If necessary, rainwater can be caught from the roof to supply the watering system.
The watering system can be controlled with an automatic controller, which will bring on the system as required. To make the watering system weather sensitive a rain sensor can be added to the unit, suspending watering during wet weather.
