Electric Greenhouse Heater
Electric greenhouse heaters are ideal for smaller sized greenhouses keeping greenhouses up to 20m2 (210ft2) frost free. Electric greenhouse heaters are easy to install and have built-in thermostats for temperature sensitive heating.
Often electric greenhouse heaters will have a fan on them to facilitate air movement inside the greenhouse, reducing the potential for cold spots. Some electric greenhouse heaters have a continually running fan, ensuring that air is circulated even when the heating is not on. This reduces the problems of cold or damp spots, although operating the fan all of the time does consume energy.
More sophisticated electric greenhouse heaters have the option of switching the electric fan off when heating is not required. The heat and the fan then come on simultaneously when heating is required, moving the warm air around the greenhouse.
Electric greenhouse heaters tend to dry the air, unlike paraffin and gas heaters that add moisture into the air. From the growers point of view, this is an advantage, as dampness can lead to disease problems.
Another benefit of electric greenhouse heaters is the ability to run the fan on its own during the summer, providing cooling air circulation during hot weather.
