Product Range

The Access Garden Products range includes traditional Cold Frames, Wall Frames and Growhouses plus the range of popular Mini-greenhouses. The free standing frames can be used anywhere in the garden, on the soil, on a patio, or even a sunny balcony!

Our Mini-greenhouses are exceptionally versatile. They can be used to over-winter house plants, to bring on cuttings, for hardening off work, growing tomatoes and grow bag crops, and much, much more. Not only do they provide all year round use, they make maximum use of a small area.

Product Range

Durability

We do not believe in building a limited life into our products. This inevitably means they cost more initially, but in the long term the quality pays for itself. The frame is made of architectural quality aluminium alloy and comes with a 25 year guarantee.° The sections are thicker than any other frame manufacturer we know of – giving much greater rigidity to the framework. All units are supplied with comprehensive instructions for easy assembly.

Safety

Safety has always been a concern for greenhouse owners. For visual clarity, glass is still far better than plastic or acrylic, but it can be dangerous when broken.

To solve this problem, Access fit high quality, toughened safety glass.° Being toughened it breaks into small fragments instead of large potentially lethal shards.

All our glass is toughened, making it up to 10 times stronger than horticultural glass, as well as being 1/3 thicker* for greater heat retention.

Classic or Value?

We supply two ranges in our Mini greenhouse and Growhouse ranges. Classic models have all of the bells and whistles, while the Value range is more striped back, giving better value for the cost conscious gardener. Both ranges, however, use the same architectural aluminium frame with a 25 year guarantee.

Take a look at our Infographic on the differences between the ranges.

Classic Range Features

Classic models are glazed in 4mm toughened safety glass, the same glass as you have in double glazed window units. The gives greater strength and improved frost protection. The handles on the glass are full length and are fitted on both sides of the sliding front doors. There are always two sliding doors on each level, regardless of length, so the openings are larger. When closed, the front sliding doors tuck behind corner trims, helping seal the frame against draughts and preventing the glass rattling in the wind.

As the Classic range has glass panels made to our own sized (rather than the 2ft square sheets on the Value range) there more model sizes available – 3 depth options and 4 length options as well as 3 height options.

The shelf bars on the Classic range are square and are closer together, providing greater strength and easier positioning of medium sized pots on the shelves. Centre staging is also included on the taller models*, providing another working area for potting up.

Classic models also have a built-in watering system as standard*, allowing gentle mist watering of tender young plants.

Value Range Features

The Value Range is based on the original mini greenhouse range we launched in the 1980’s – great quality but without all of the bells and whistles of the Classic models. The framework is the same, but the glass is 3mm – toughened for safety – 3mm glass (or 1/8″ in imperial) was the glass that was always put into greenhouses. It is strong and light and is more than capable of withstanding high winds and storms. In fact the toughening process makes the glass around 7 times stronger than the old horticultural glass. The sheet sizes are 24″ x 24″ (610mm x 610mm), so all of the dimensions on the Value range are in 2ft multiples – just over 2 feet deep and 4ft or 6ft long.

The Value Growhouses and Value Mini greenhouses have lighter shelves included, fine for trays of seedlings and plug plants. Accessories such as mist watering, louvre vents and centre staging can be added as options to the base models.

Ventilation

The top and front glass slides easily for variable ventilation – this translates into fantastic ventilation of the greenhouse – with many full sized greenhouse you struggle to keep them cool in the Summer – with an Access greenhouse the sliding doors can be fully opened and the roof panels can slid open or even be completely removed if required.

For those times when no one is at home, an automatic louvre vent can be added.*°Powered by a reliable oil filled mechanism, it will automatically open and close with changes in temperature – ensuring good ventilation even on hot days.

Watering

Unique to Access Mini greenhouses is the provision of a built-in watering system.*° Simply turn on your tap to spray a fine mist throughout the frame, without having to open the glass.

Mist watering is beneficial for foliage and ideal for young seedlings. Even the finest ‘rose’ cannot duplicate the gentleness of mist watering. Every time it saves you carrying a heavy watering can, you’ll think it’s worth its weight in gold!

* Excludes Value Range, Cold Frames and Westminster
° Excludes Victorian Cloches & Bell Cloche

Shelving

To make the most of the growing space inside, our Growhouses and Mini greenhouses come with adjustable seed tray shelves. These are available as an option on our Cold Frames and Tomato Houses.

The shelves consist of slim aluminium bars to minimise shadows and can be adjusted height-wise to accommodate small or large plants. When not required, the shelves can either be dropped flat of removed completely, freeing up space for crops such as tomatoes.

As an option, shelf covers can be added to the shelves to accommodate small pots.

Shading

If the Mini greenhouse or Growhouse is in a very sunny location, or if more delicate plants are being grown, a shade cover can be added.

Fitted on the outside, it prevents the heat of the sun entering the structure. It can cover just the roof or the roof and front and can easily be removed of not required.
