Inside, there is plenty of space for plants. The Midi Growhouse is ideal for taking more delicate plants through the Winter, bringing on plug plants in the springtime and growing Mediterranean summer crops such as Bush Tomatoes, Chillies and Peppers.

The sliding doors provide easy access into the Midi Growhouse and allow infinitely variable ventilation – just an inch or so in the early spring to wide open in the summer. In addition, the roof panels slide open for superb summer ventilation.

Aluminium structure with 25 year framework guarantee and stainless steel fixings – designed to last a lifetime!

The 3mm toughened safety glass provides excellent light transmission and traps early spring heat much better than plastic sheets, and unlike plastic will not go milky with age. The glass will not flex in strong winds or under snow loads.

The two wide seed tray shelves can be adjusted for height and can be removed or dropped flat when not required in summer. Slim aluminium bars reduce shading of the plants below.

As an option, the framework can be Colour Coated.

  1. I bought it mainly to a support a first venture into growing from seed and to support the growing of outdoor tomatoes. Both have been quite successful. The sliding and removable front and top ‘doors’ provide great flexibility, the shelves are good for seed trays and easily dropped for growing the tomatoes, and a small paraffin lamp and/or large tea lights under terracotta pots (as advised at purchase at Tatton Pk RHS Show 2023) provide just enough frost protection. So I am very happy with the product and can highly recommend it. Three photos illustrate its use so far.

The only slight problem I have is that it’s quite hard to keep the runners clean and grit free so that the doors slide easily, and the plastic ‘handles’ on the doors tend to come away – do you have any advice for dealing with these issues? [Note: We now have sticky pads to stick the handles on].

Seed trays in position, paraffin lamp and upturned terracotta pots for tea lights (best to stand the pots on the pottery shards to allow air through or the candles tend to extinguish). The paraffin lamp is generally sufficient (we are in the southern Peak District)

Sliding front and top doors removed and stored at the rear, shelves dropped for tomatoes. The back and sides of the growhouse provide some protection and retain some warmth – growth seems much better than it did in previous years in the open.
