PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

This 4ft Garden Cold Frame is 4′ long x 4′ wide with aluminium framework and is glazed with 3mm toughened safety glass.

  • Aluminium Cold Frame
  • 3mm toughened safety glass
  • Manufactured in the UK

This 4ft Garden Cold Frame is designed to stand directly on the soil or on a raised base.

The Cold Frame has an aluminium structure with 25 year framework guarantee and stainless steel fixings – designed to last a lifetime!

The 3mm toughened safety glass ensures the warmth of the early spring sun is trapped and the weight of the glass prevents the cold frame from blowing away. The rigidity of the glass panels also prevents the panels flexing under high snow or wind loads.

The sliding doors provide easy access and allow infinitely variable ventilation – just an inch or so in the early spring to wide open in the summer. In addition, the roof panels slide open for easy access and superb ventilation. In Summer the roof panels can be removed to keep temperatures down but still provide wind protection.

Garden Cold Frames are designed to produce early soil grown crops such as garden vegetables. They also compliment a greenhouse as they allow tender plants to be placed outside in a well ventilated area before transplanting into the garden.

Manufactured in England, UK. For more information read our Cold Frame guide.

Customer Reviews

  1. I’m really pleased with my 4 x 4ft cold frame. Currently using it on top of a raised hotbed on my allotment for starting off seedlings earlier in the year. Quality is superb and the coldframe is very easy to assemble too. I’ve since added additional shelves and a mist irrigation system. Item is well worth the money and will clearly give many years of service. So much better than the cheap poorly designed coldframes that you can buy elsewhere.

  2. My husband was extremely pleased with his cold frame, he is a gardener locally and has praised it to all his customers who have ordered the same in various sizes. So yes it was a great success.

  3. I have three of your 4×4 and an 8×4 cold frame bought them three or four years ago. I live on a hill 1,000 ft up in Derbyshire, with high winds and last year lots of snow, these cold frames take bad weather with ease, sheltering many plants over winter. They are so elegantly designed, so straight forward. If you are fed up of things that fall to bits and cannot be mended buy these frames you will not regret it. Seriously you will be able to leave them to your children they are so robust a classic.

  4. “First noticed the Access Cold Frame at RHS Wisley and was very impressed with both the design and quality of it. From ordering at the Tatton Park Horticultural Show to the point of delivery, the whole exercise was very professional and went very smoothly. The instructions for the assembly of the wooden raised bed and the cold frame were very explicit and quite easy to follow. The cold frame is used for growing more delicate plants in the spring and summer and it is used during winter for keeping troughs and pots containing alpine plants etc. until the following spring.”

  5. After purchasing my access cold frame complete with raised timber base I have been more than pleased with the results. I will give the unit a score of 10 out of 10, due to the simple nature of construction, very easy to use and produces good quality crops. Sprayer attachment is also very good. Would highly recommend this product. George.

  6. Very good product. Designed cleverly so that it’s easy to put together and can be modified if needed. (Eg. irrigation system). Plenty of space for my needs and everything fits together easily and with everything lining up. Side doors slide well, but the top glass lids can ‘stick’ together when they’re wet. This might be solved by adding handles (optional extra). The quality of the materials is what makes this cold frame well worth it. I can see this cold frame lasting many many years.
